Playlists

Here are the playlists from my show last Friday.

Old Hindi Songs:
  • Mere Mehboob Tujhe Mere Mohabbat Ki Kasam;
  • Baharon Phool Barsaao;
  • O Basanti;
  • O Haseena Zulfonwaali;
  • Aayegga Aanewaala;
  • Rukhja O Jaanewaali;
  • Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon;
  • Meri Bheegi Bheegi Si; and
  • Hum Bewafaa.

Western Music:
  • I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (U2);
  • What About Love (Heart);
  • Dancing in the Dark (Bruce Springsteen);
  • Space Oddity (David Bowie);
  • Wonderful Tonight (Clapton);
  • You Got It (Roy Orbison. Whoopi Goldberg sang a sad version of this song in a lovely, pathos-filled movie called Boys on the Side. I get the goosebumps every time I hear her version in my head);
  • Run to You (Bryan Adams - extreeemely popular in Bangalore);
  • Objection (Shakira);
  • Golden Eye (Tina Turner);
  • Tomorrow Never Dies (Sheryl Crowe); and
  • Red Red Wine (UB 40).

sob. the only thing I miss about bangalore - good fm - there are more than 5 fm stations in bombay and none of them can look beyond kajra re. not to forget 'its the time to disco' from kal ho na ho. my husband calls it the fm anthem :(

The first playlist - absolutely TOP CLASS! Every one of those songs is a gem. P'raps next time you could play something from Baiju Bawra. I wont be able to listen, but at least I can be happy that someone somewhere is listening to my favourite songs :)

How about some GnR, Nirvana, Pearl Jam?

Charu, don't they play different things during different times of the day? We play the disco song as well, but only in specific chunks...

Shyamala, will definitely do that!

Gawker, I do play them, but in a different set...

Ravi, this is just my playlist from ONE of my shows. The playlist obviously changes for every show. I do play Sting. The days of my show change. Let me know when you're in town next and I can tell you the daus. And yes, I do have Joshua tree...

[ravi]: I have the Elevation tour live in Boston (on DVD, not pirated :P ) and yes, the video CD of Achtung Baby too. Hmm.. no Joshua tree DVD but I guess we can look for that!

do you play kannada songs ?

No, I don't, but my co-host does. Each transmission has an English host (english and hindi songs) and a Kannada host (hindi and kannada songs).
