One Thing I Miss...

from my India life is flipping through the channels on TV and suddenly landing on some old Hindi song or even a new one with one of the Khans gyrating like there was no tomorrow.

So true - I was in Bangalore last week and had this happen many times.

Speaking of flipping channels, one thing I find surprising - after all these many years and dozens (100s?) of channels later, why do we still not have a Preview channel in India? People have to still flip from one channel to the next.

This is partly why London appeals to me - we have so many desi channels here that I invariably find a new Khan or an old Hindi song to tug at my heartstrings!

Anuradha Srinivasan.........
Once again, great articles, write-ups on your blog, espescially, the 'desi' ones about Bangalore, our rituals, 'mom and child specials' and so on. I too write a bit now and then, and hope to do so at least as a hobby. 'Desi' as we all like to be, I have penned down one short one, titled 'Missed Muhurthams'. Would you like if I could share it on your blog? I would like to know your response. In fact, as I have written earlier, your style of writing is absolutely, fantastic. I am drawn to your blog articles like a magnet whenever I find even those few minutes of free time. Keep blogging!

Anuradha, I'm really delighted that you would want to share your work on my blog. But I don't think this would be the appropriate venue for you. If I may suggest something, perhaps you could start a blog of your own (and nothing could be easier than that) and put up your work on sites such as Desicritics (www.desicritics.org). They have a much, much wider readership in the Desi community. Let me know if you have any other questions, and good luck!
