Homeschooling in Bangalore

Su, in response to a query regarding homeschooling via the comments on one of my posts on schools in Bangalore, has this to say:

There are lots of families in Bangalore who are homeschooling their kids even in higher classes, so you're [not] alone. There is a yahoogroup for people who are interested in alternative education in India and the group has quite a few homeschoolers, most are from Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune. The group is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alt-ed-india/
So if you are interested in homeschooling, check out the yahoo group by clicking on the link or by copying and pasting the url at the end of the response into your browser. Good luck.

Apha, so you're still doing posts on Bangalore. Thank the lord ! I was scared you'd start only doing US stuff and I won't be able to relate :)

Aww, thanks Poppins! Have a lot more stuff on B'lore, only wish I had the time. Things are a little haywire at the moment. :)

But I do hope you will read my other non-B'lore stuff as well. :)

I do.. I just don't comment because I usually have nothing to say !

BTW have I ever told you that you were the first blogger I got hooked on to? I discovered you via a friend's blog and then never let go.

keep the posts on bangalore coming sujatha! i've said this before and will say it again - your posts are informative, well-written and interesting.

my issue with homeschooling has always been the lack of social interaction, but if there is a large number of people doing it then perhaps it can be organised enough to include that element as well.

for me the ideal scenario would be a school that has a shorter day - like say 8 to 1 or 9 to 2, that would leave the afternoon open for doing stuff the kids are interested in like music or sport or for free unstructured play. that would be an ideal mix of homeschooling and 'proper' school.
