Sankraanthiya Shubhaashayagalu (Happy Sankraanthi)!

Pictures from one Pongal/Sankraanthi past.

We were driving to my mom's home for Sankraanthi celebrations. My car window was rolled down as I tried to get pics of the marketplace brimming with sugarcane and avarekaayi. These two boys saw me with a camera in my hand and promptly grabbed the sugarcane and hammed.

Avarekaayi, sweet potato, peanuts and sugarcane.

Pongal, just about done cooking. Yum, yum.

The vessel in which my mom makes pongal every year.

i stumbled upon your post and glad i did. The pongal looks amazing, mouthwatering. Do you have the recipe with you ? can you be kind enough to share it with a poor soul who is so far away from home, that sweet pongal is a distant dream :)

Ranjini, I'll have to ask my mom (and my dad who's the backseat cook!). Will put it up here as soon as I do. Thanks for reading my blog.
